I am down to ride, but you will probably have to wait for me since I am so slow. You get your Magicshine in? I got mine last week and went on the Fri. Bikes and More ride. That is a sweet light. Now I just need to work on my bike skills and trail knowledge....

Yeah, used the MS out at the Rock last week and it was a blast. I'll be riding out there again on Thursday evening. As for the skills...they'll come.

    Jesse,

I'm up for riding Monday nights. I didn't know Supercool stopped their Monday night rides. I sat there for a close to an hour this past Monday wondering where the heck everybody was. Are you riding tonight with Goodbike?

For those who were on the Wednesday night ride, I definitely think that route is a great Monday night route. Wal-Mart, McDonald's, Lowe's, Ring Park, 8th Ave, Loblolly/Roots, Raiders, then campus and back home. I need to ride it in the daytime a few more times and then at night a few more times before I could feel confident to lead it.

Our trails definitely need some maintenance. We need to organize a ride soon to do a little trail cleanup.

I'm down. Paul also said he's in for Monday rides and I'm sure he'd help on some maintenance. Need to schedule some daylight maintenance. Saturday afternoon?

Hey there is an open house at SBA in White Springs on Saturday if you're interested. Saturday departure time is 9am. its about a 45 minute drive north on I-75. And most of the trails have groomed for the upcoming Fat-tire Festival.

I'd love to, but I have obligations that morning. I'd love to do maintenance, but night-time maintenance probably sucks. I figured more people would be interested in the daylight.
Edit: I reckon if we park over near Wal-mart we could probably knock out that trail and Lowe's before it gets too dark.
Double edit: with my super-sleuth skills I just figured out who you are. Glad to see another local on here.

Just rode Lowe's and Wal-Mart and I think Lowe's just needs some work in the beginning and then a little at the end. I don't think an organized trail maintenance day is going to happen, I think some of us should just agree to bring some loppers and a handsaw on the Monday ride and just repair on the ride.

Pretty much every trail we ride needs work. I still want to build that connector trail from Spyglass/20th ave back to Hull Road also.

Well then, as Scott suggested, let's just meet on Monday. If anyone has some hand-held shears, bring em.. I think I can also supply a handsaw. I vote leaving from Bikes and More at 6:30...none of this waiting around until 6:45 bidness. I talked Duncan at Goodbike and he said that Alligator Alley is getting fixed tonight, so that's good. What kind of route do you want to do?

I might be game for a maintenance ride Monday... just depends on what time I finish up at work. I have a couple hand saws and some straps we could use to drag logs/crap out of there.

I don't have a light though (read: a good light), so my time commitment will be limited to an hour or so.

Well I think I can supply some labor as well. I don't have any tools that would be useful. I will be there unless work goes late.

Sounds good, we'll just pick a route and ride it knowing that we'll be stopping to fix anything that needs it. I talked to some guys at Bikes and More and I think we'll have some more help. So, officially, leaving AT 6:30 from Bikes and More so we can get some stuff done in the daylight.

I was thinking about Lowe's and then whatever anyone else suggests. The only ride routes I know are McDonald's and Lowes and then I could probably ride through the ghetto and get us on the route behind Norton and leading over to Streit's, but even that's sketchy in my memory. If someone knows 8th then we'll head that way, but I don't know if there's anything needing fixing on that trail. Going to play it by ear depending on who shows up. We'll combine our trail knowledge and make a route

If you're already on the McDonald's/Lowes area, why not trim Walmart while you're there?

Was a good ride. Rode Wal-Mart, McDonald's, Lowe's, 8th, Loblolly, Raiders, and Alligator Alley clearing everything we felt it needed. I tell you what, having a light fail at Alligator Alley only to have it working again when I get home is purty frustrating. Hard to ride on someone else's light...

Contacted Geomangear.com with my light problem at 9PM, he told me at 530AM he'll be sending a new lighthead. That's good service in my books.

Jesse- Thanks for letting us know about the Geomangear service. I have been tinkering with this idea and I think you just sold me on it.

Sorry I couldn't make it, but work got crazy. Thanks for putting in the work though.

That would be awesome Jim, will it use the same battery or do you mean the whole setup?

You'd have to use the whole setup, and it's helmet mounted because I can't find the bar mount. It uses a 14.8V lithium pack that's about the size of 8 AA size batteries, but it's plenty bright and should run 5+ hours on a charge.

I'm always down to help work and maintain the trails. No equipment, except my mitts. I appreciate the work you guys have done, alligator alley was nice and not-so-haggard today. I (started) 62nd parallel from 20th ave a few days ago and that could really use a hatchet. Haven't been down the 20th ave trails in a while, how are they?

Is anyone available on thursdays to work/ride?

We may be able to do another Monday night work-ride, but not this coming Monday. As for Thursdays, not sure. I know I take a break between the Wed and Fri night rides plus I have class until 7. 20th Ave trails aren't that bad, and I agree that the Spyglass trails need some work. Maybe we can hit those on the next work-ride.

I always carry a pair of loppers and a hand saw in my car. Remind me before one of the rides and I can bring it and trim a little here and there. If the crew of people is pretty small we spend a lot of time chatting so it'd be no big deal to do a little trimming at the same time.
