We are now going 'gangnam' style on the AMTB trails as the grand opening of the full 4.5 mile system is planned for Saturday OCT 18. There will be a full press core, event tent and all kinds of activities for that day. More details will follow!
will you be doing any of the layout for the FSC/CC race? those AMTB trails should make it more fun for passing at some points

If there is a FSC/CC race at Markham then usually parts of the AMTB trails are in it, even reversed, but also parts of the fire roads which are better for passing. The AMBT is wider but still not a double wide trail by any means. We decided early on that no MTB'r wants a fire road for a trail so we tried to keep them as authentic as possible.

The conditions are poor with mud everywhere. I'd avoid the park for now unless you like spending money on drivetrains. The lake levels are so high that this is flooding the roads and pushing groundwater levels high enough that nothing drains. SFWM needs to start pumping out the area before the trails will be drying out... We just had another 1.25 inches dumped on us....

I can attest... I tried to ride yesterday afternoon (wasn't raining for once)...

I had a terrible ride and ended up busting my ass on a slippery section...

Sore as hell today... Oh well, par for the course...

I just closed WarmUp Loop as it is under repair and the muck has to set up somehow. The lake levels are now to the point of water creeping over the road towards the tool sheds... SFLWM needs to start dumping water out of Weston and the lakes in the park..

Sorry I didn't reply sooner Shane as I was doing a lot of work lately in Markham...
The situation is slowly improving but it all depends how much rain we get this week. The lake-levels have dropped a bit but the ground is still saturated enough to prevent drying of the trails fast enough for everyone... WarmUp loop was opened up tonight as well so we are making progress.. Only 66 and Waterdog (AMTB) trail are closed now...

If you are referring to the thread about the "Ruffle" then you have to see it from the our side as peeps were being threatened and cr^p like that is not what the FB page is about. The park manager and county peeps check into that page also and it looked very unprofessional to everyone.. It was funny up to that point though...

Crazy busy on Sunday! Trails were nice tho! Some nice improvements.....some overly done.....The adaptive trail network is really nice for those riding with family. The last 'drop' coming out of the gun range is fantastic! I know how grumpy Markham dudes get when calling something a 'drop' but I fly off that thing almost clearing the bricks

Glad you all has a good day on Sunday!! The trails are dry and loose in some spots because it dried out so (too?) fast.

The AMTB trails are just about all built and we have started to rebuild some of the lost elevation, notably the climb before the big drop in Outback extention which was raised 4.5 feet at the top. The next projects will be Armadillo, Fishinghole loop, Iguana Ridge, Area 51, Redback, Supercross and Rte 66 on the West side of the park. The Dump area will be busy with big trucks, dozers etc in the next week or so.

You're welcome!! Yeah that climb was a pet peeve of mine for some time as after we rebuilt the drop, the rest of the trail felt wanting. As we were building the AMTB trail next to OBX, the opportunity to fix the climb was there and it got done. 35 Tons of black fill capped by a ton of marl...

    Fsc race!!!

This Friday 10-24-14 the race course will be set up for the FSC race on Sunday and the trail will be closed on race-day until after the race.
Saturday there is a ST race at 4 PM so the trails will close at 2:30 PM so we can set up the course. Please follow the race course arrows as a lot of trails will be in REVERSE. This is a great opportunity to ride some of your favorite trails in reverse... I hope we don't get too much rain although the trails can use some.

I got roped into dealing with the FSC race as there weren't enough patrollers left to help out. There are 50 registered patrollers for Broward County and 5 were helping out... Needless to say that I am over it..

I raced. Oscar. I am very grateful for your patrolling. I cant believe so many had to be turned away trying to get into the trails to ride, and trying to enter without helmets.

The race was a great success and I was happy to be there for the racers. It is just that the non racers have no clue that the county demands the trail closure while the race is on. The no helmet crowd are just brainless morons who can't understand a simple english sigh that states: "Beyond This Point Helmets Are Mandatory" What can I say? Dumb-ass S.Florida at it's best...

Yes they are, as the Jamaican Jerk fest is on and the vendors go through the 8th street gate which puts truck traffic right between WarmUp and Bermuda and the Pumptrack... I wish it was otherwise as the weather is just perfect for riding and Rte 66 was just opened up too...

Rode it for the first time today. Had a blast.

I've basically been off of the bike for a year and man am I out of shape! My calves were burning just trying to stay heels down in the technical sections.

This was my first ride since moving out from San Diego. I was used to long arduous climbs out there. I still have my lungs, but my leg muscles have seriously deteriorated.

Big shout out to the trail builders and maintainers. You guys have done a great job!

The trails are in great shape and Redback opened up with a brand new berm at the bottom. The rain prevented the build of a new tabletop there, but it is on the way too... The marl got a bit soggy to say the least.
