    South FL MTB

Hello South Florida, I am new to mtbing and just bought my first bike, GT Karakorma Sport. I live in Davie an Markham is close to me so I plan on going there. it says there is a novice trail but i dont know how novice it is. Hopefully ill meet some local and learn the trails. let me know if you are from around the area.

you should be fine if you don't mind going a little south Amelia Earhart in Hialeah has some very easy trails to learn on(thats where i learned to ride). markham can get a little technical often times. Virginia key is also a very nice park in key biscayne it is also technical. id say save virgina key for once u have some more experience.

You will learn much more by riding Amelia, over and over and over.

Go to the office at Markham. There is a short video to watch explaining the trails, their markings, fitness/skill level for each. Then you sign a waiver, pay for your year riding card ($25), and go riding.

Helmet is a must... I also suggest a decent pair of gloves in case (when) you take a spill... Markham has a lot of rocks... If you choose to wear more, that's up to you...

Thanks HOLLYWOOD33 , I bought glove and I just got my helmet yesterday, I know what you mean when you said "when you take a spill" same thing applies with motorcycles and I laid it down. How is the traffic on the trails when is the least busiest times?

i live farther south (miami/cutler bay) and started riding at virginia key. ive been a handful of times and i found it a bit tough for a newbie. i wanna go to amelia i just dont have a group to go with. congrats on the new bike, i recently got into MTBing and got a Specialized Hardrock. when the rain dies down a bit ill stop riding pavement and start riding a few trails again.

I recommend wearing shorts also to avoid chaffing.

I bought shorts for it, I think I have all the gear I need, I just need to go to Markham, do the video thing and pay. Do the other parks require the same thing to get on the trails?

Yes light rain is ok, heavy rain is not ok! Lighting bob, weave, and peddle as hard as you can to your car.....

ps..... wet wood ramps can kill you when they are wet....Just Saying
