    Panther Creek, near Knoxville

I'm considering a day at Panther Creek during a trip to Gatlinburg, and would appreciate a quick trail report. Everything I've seen on the web makes the place seem great.

    Thanks

Well, I went, and it's pretty decent. Trout Lilly, Deer trail, and Patriot (?) were all rocky, rooty, and rolling, just the way I like my trails. Highly recommended if you're stuck at Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge and bored silly.

Or, you can ride the the new Dirty South trails at Mead's Quarry just south of downtown Knoxville, about the same driving distance or shorter. The local club did a great job on these trails.

^ Maybe next time, if there is one. Trips to that area of the Smokies has been ruined by all the commercialism IMO. Looks like a booming economy though.

I did an Xterra there last year and plan to go back this year. The trails are pretty good. Nothing amazing but just a fun place to ride. I think it is one of those places that is funner to race than just ride.
