    looking for a trail

okay im looking for a trail that has fire break roads, smooth paths, not alot of super tech sections and roots. I hate roots. I'm a triathlete and would like to compete in some off road races. I was watching the xterra races and the trails seemed more open that some around GA and AL. if you could point me in the right direction that would be great I appreciate it.

This sounds just like my trip last month to Ellijay GA...Pinhotti Trail system. Fast flowing trails, hardly any routes and tons of fire roads between the trails.

    +1 for the Pinhoti

Lots of fire roads and and some rock, not much in the rooty category. The only drawback to the pinhoti is there are alot of out-and-backs. Not many loops. Great trails imo.
    Too wet to ride!

Pretty much any National Forest will have lots of firebreaks and forest roads.

Tsali near Bryson City, NC would be a good option for you. Trails there are buff for the most part, nothing really technical. There is an off road tri held there that is super fun. TSali Challenge Mountain Bike Race

... and if we just ...

Amelia and Quiet Waters have similar set-ups with double track go-arounds and bypasses for the really techy stuff.
Markham has bypasses too but is a much tougher trail system to ride than the others I mentioned.
    Hope it helps..
