Racers/Riders who have not been to Tom Brown Park since last's year race might have noticed quite a few changes to the trail system and also some additions. Much of the old highly eroded trails were erased and a new system was designed and built by Trail Dynamics working with the local club SORBA chapter and city parks folks. The design phase was back in Feb. and construction phase was 5+ weeks starting in March, but the planning phase dates back to 2009. We had 4 staff down for the design phase and 9 of us on the construction phase.
Trails were designed to be more sustainable but also have better flow and be more fun to ride for a wider range of riders. The special areas know as Pandora's Box and Kudzilla were also designed and built at the same time and it was great to see these included in the race course.
TD crew will be back down this winter working on Munson Hills trails out on USFS lands.
