Do GPS devices and Cellphones get signal in the Bear Creek area?

Im going to be riding there next month and I was just wondering what peoples experiences where. I will be getting a Iphone 4 shortly and plan on using it as a gps if I can get a signal there if not I have a garmin Oregon 450 I can borrow.

GPS, yes. Cellphone, only if you have Verizon, and then it's spotty.

I have sprint and can set my phone to "roaming only" under one of the phone options. When I do that I can often get the Verizon signal in the Bear Creek area. If I don't force roaming it will not switch over on its own.

Last I was there in October, GPS signal was great both on my Garmin Edge and IPHONE gps. But AT&T signal was spotty. However, AT&T has being doing great improvement in the NC area but probably not so much in the mountain areas.
