We are going to be riding Big Creek on Friday. Any advice, etc?

Follow the signs. It's really pretty hard to get lost there.

What sort of advice are you looking for? Where to eat? Hotels? Other trails?

Mostly just checking to see if i need to bring a map of the area with me, I am fairly familiar with the Atlanta Area. I ride at Sokol in Tuscaloosa, AL a good bit and if you don't know where you are going you can get turned around fairly quick.

It's not a very big area. Are you going to freeride or ride XC stuff? Either way I don't think you could ever get lost.

Sorry didn't get this message until mid day. We went to a concert last night and didn't get in till late. Rode this afternoon, A little before, during, and a after the thunder storm. Had a good time, wife wasn't feeling too good so she wasn't getting after it too much today. more rocky than I am used to but a very enjoyable ride. We mostly rode the intermediate and beginner trails (didn't get into the advanced too much since she wasn't feeling too well) Thanks for all the info and I am sure I will be back next time I am in ATL.

What was up with the little wooden tombstone that says "Stumpy" on it and has a date?

Not sure. I've been riding Big Creek since 2006, and I still don't know who Stumpy is. Someone please tell us!

My guess is that someone broke a stumpjumper there. That is what I got out of it, or maybe a dog.

I was thinking it was a dog too. Haha, wonder if the dog had three legs, that's why it was named Stumpy.

When RAMBO made the trail reroutes a few years ago, there was one obvious stump right in the corner. After a while it was removed, but as a joke someone put that marker up in it's memory.

It is in Roswell, just east of 400 and Holcomb Bridge intersection.
