Hey, did you build it yourself? I have a question on the XT cranks. Are the bearing carrier cups (the things you thread into the bb shell which the bb axle slides through) made out of plastic or some alloy? I know they are silver in color, but I was wondering what the actual material was.
Thanks for the comments. I had Wrench Science build it. They did a great job. It is a XL. On the bearing cups, I believe they are aluminum. Oh yeah this is my first Turner and after one ride I can tell I love it. My brother has a 5 Spot and raves about it. So I though I would give the Burner a shot.

Hey man, I hope you see this. I know this is a veeery old thread, but thought I'd give it a shot. I'm looking into a Burner frame as well, but am stuck between an L and XL. I'm almost 6'4", and I like an upright-ish riding position. How tall are you, any regrets not going with a Large? Experiences with the XL frame?

I have both the XT and XTR outboard bearings. They are both Al. The XT are noticeably heavier, but not to the point any sensible person would care. They're smooth as butta. The XTRs are a year old and fell like new. I have to say $himano hit the mark on these cranks, They're easy as pie to install, and remove.
There is one real hangup I have with XTR since the late 90's and that is their proprietary chainring sizes. If I cannot put a RF, Blackspire, or some other cheap(er) high-quality ring on there, I refuse to buy the cranks. I tend to wear out drivetrains pretty fast so I just say no to marshmallow-soft (at least the old style) XTR rings. If they came in 64/104 BCDs, I'd be on them in a flash. And the 04 XTs also look very nice, but not a lot nicer than the 03 XTs from a price/durability standpoint.
In a year I may try the RF X types. Bottom brackets are one area where I am NOT an early adopter anymore (thank you Isis)!
Good point on the $himano propriatary nonsense. I particularly disliked the oversized spiders on the XTR crankset and the big ring spider in the older set. Both times I couldn't get a reasonable bashguard. Hence my "upgrade" to XT. I don't get the mud or mileage you do, so wear has not yet become an issue...yet. I was all set to pull the trigger on the RF X-types until I read about the BB issues.
I am almost 6'4" and the XL fits me great. I would not go any smaller. The Burner to me has a neutral and does not stretch you out over the top tube like a Specialized might. Hope this helps. Thanks for resurrecting a my old post.
