...The 5 Spot is the best bike Nah, nah, na-na, naaaah!

Okay just kidding. But I had to post something to test this out. Next test, posting pictures....

Patience, folks useful content will come in time. Hey, built in spell check would be nice. That way I wouldn't have to cut and paste into Outlook all the time.

Oh, I changed to that Avatar just *After* I posted that comment. DUH! I didn't know it would update all my previous posts. lol. It seemed a lot less creepy late last night after a few rum&cokes.

Still serching for the "one". I tried posting my bike but I didn't like how it came out.

This should be interesting

This message board....not my reply, obviously.

I had a feeling that you and TS would be here already.
Guess what? I decided to go riding today (I'm on vacation till 1/5) and the Romic felt flat as i rolled around in the driveway before leaving for the trailhead.

I decided to adjust the compression knob, but when I did...I noticed that it had oil dripping from it. I went back to the garage and noticed a small puddle of oil on the floor...right where it had leaked from the shock. Here I go again with the dreaded Romic compression knob problem. I'll contact the LBS, today.

I know this was off topic (what topic), but since we're just testing thi site....I figured I had to write something. It is all true, unfortunately.

Happy Holidays!!!!!!
(thank goodness I have another FS (the trusty Fuel)

Will this be your first repair on the Romic? I had to have mine done and all in all it two about two weeks but I haven't any problems with it since it came back. I think it was back in Sept. that i sent it in.

Good Luck!

This is the second repair on this particular Romic. I had another that had a slow leak from the bottom....not the compression knob like all the other failures.

It's really getting to be a pain. I'd have given up on Romic a long time ago if it wasn't for my LBS. They keep a loaner on hand and it's always been available when I needed it. Once, before they had the loaner, they actually removed a Romic from a brand new 5-Spot frame they had hanging on display.
The bike shop is called ABS (Another Bike Shop in Santa Cruz, CA) www.anotherbikeshop.com

I had to give them a plug because once again they came through. I just got back from ABS with a loaner Romic.....I can ride again!!!!!

My Romic was working fine as far as ride quality goes, and it hasn't leaked. But I was experimenting with the compression knob and it did not seem to change anything. From all the way out to all the way in or anywhere in between.

I spoke w/ Romic and the tech (Jimmy) was very helpful. He took my info and said he'd check to see if it was indeed a problem. I also requested the "Big Boy" compression valve adjustment. Which supposedly makes each click on the compression knob more dramatic. I also asked him to double check if mine was one of the defective valve-body batch. He agreed that was a good idea.

He said they'd kick it back out in 2 days...I sent it overnight. Hadn't heard from them. Called them Friday, and the receptionist said she'd have Jimmy call me back. He didn't...but no biggie it's way too close to Xmas to expect too much from anyone. Meanwhile, I'm waiting on service on a bunch of other parts as well.

I'll let you all know how it works out.

Odd thread. I like it.

My turtle was called Myrtle. She died, sadly. Probably after being on the wrong end of Woodie too many times.

While we're sharing, I have been having some trouble with a Turtle's Head today after a dodgy Mexican lunch.

P.S. BZ - is your sig a quote from Woodie?

I believe those are box turtles TB, not the painted variety. Good stuff though.
Ah, OK. Thanks Miles, I always assumed there was a bodyshop somewhere for them to go on their 16th birthday to get a custom paintjob.

I did Myrtle myself, Candy Apple red over orange powdercoat. She was never the same after she came out of the anodising machine, though.
