I'm looking for some opinions on what kind of rack to get to mount my Jekyll w/ a lefty to the bed of my Tacoma pickup. I’ve seen the adapters that fit on to the lefty hub that fit in a regular fork mounts, but im trying to find something (if possible) where I don’t have to remove the wheel each time since I have to undo the disc caliper when I do. What kind of mounts/racks have you all tried or seen? Thanks for any input,

Yakima has bike mounts that clamp onto the crankarm ( Anklebiter ), or front tire ( Cobra/King Cobra ).

I've got a yak rack mounted to the bed rails of my Dakota Quad, it's easy to take the towers / crossbars off for when I need the full capy of the bed, but the rest of the time it works like a "normal" roof rack and gives me a very solid, secure, lockable, bike carrier. Speed tested at > 100 mph. ;^) Right now I've got two Boa bike mounts, but then everything I have is easy to use with a front wheel removed. I've been wanting a 3rd mount and am very tempted by something like the above because I'm just dead lazy.

I'm sure Thule has equiv stuff, but I like the roundbar cross-bars of the yakima system more.

You could probably also setup something that mounted the rack IN your bed by mounting the yak carrier to some PVC type stuff, mounted to boards or something, which could be bolted to the bed and keep the bike lower by a foot or so.

PS: I'm pretty sure we got the rack 'n rails from Rack Warehouse - http://www.rackwarehouse.com/mtr300.html

I also use and recommend the Sportworks racks. I have both the "Transport" 2 bike hitch mounted rack and their "Bob" cartop rack. Simple, and secure.

late reply - probably got yourself a mount already.

if you like to 'minimise cost' and get pleasure from making things yourself - a simple rack can be made using: 75 by 38mm pine stud, 2 long galvanise bolts, a toe strap and two tie down straps.

the basis is a to make a wheel clamp - very simple and effective. take's about an hour to make and has been tested to well over 100k's on dirt roads. been using it for 18 months without a problem.

if anyone is interested i'll hand draw a diagram and post it.

cheers, the jaw

I personally love my sportworks hitch mount, but i know your asking about your truck bed. I would use either tie down straps or I saw a 4 runner with a sportworks rack on her roof, if you could secure that rack to your truck bed floor, you would be set up with an awesome rack. Good luck, oh I have used the anklebitters and stuff and now my frame has the marks to show for it.
