As for the "noobs," well, they are diamonds in the rough.

Noob reviews are unreliable at best, and you happen to be replying to one of the many long time contributors that have been offering up solid info so that people like uyou have content to read when you join this site.

Yes and no and in some ways any review can be reliable or unreliable depending in the needs of the person reading the review.

Let's face it, the majority of us have very little ability to be objective.

If you don't believe me, read what 99% of the people here would say if asked about buying a bike from Walmart. I would bet that without even finding out the needs of the buyer, most people would say don't buy them, they are total pieces of sh!t. Well, for most of us, this is true as most the bikes sold there will not hold up to the every day stress we put on them. However, the person who wrote the review, may be in his 60's looking for something to ride on dirt roads 5-10 miles maybe once a week or every other other week and for him, a Walmart bike is great and may be just what the person reading the review is looking for. That being the case there is absolutely nothing wrong with that newbie review.

Of course to the guy that has been riding and racing 20 years and is bombing down the most difficult trails setting new records on Strava, the review will be crap.

I know that if I go out and spend $10k on a bike, I am going to get a better bike than if I spent $3k. However, I doubt I would really be able to tell or reap any rewards for spending that extra $7k. Although, I am sure there is a few people here that could.
That is where a little common sense comes in reading the reviews.
I know that even though that $200 full suspension walmart bike score about the same amount of chili peppers as the $1k hard tail, there really is no real comparison. However, it doesn't make that $200 bike review wrong, it just means it's intended for a different audience than me.

    I have 2 opinions myself.

The right one and the wrong one.

Which one I share depends on my mood.

When in doubt about the validity of a statement, check the rep power. If it is zero or higher, maintain reservations.

^^ this from this posting http://forums.mtbr.com/off-camber-of...up-830113.html , single sprocket got it right, if you want to fix the rep system, the rep should go towards the post not the person.

Ok, I am stuck in the airport and bored, which is why I even clicked on it. (Ok, it was mostly cause it is a Tone's thread). But I am most certainly NOT bored enough to read 16 pages of this shyte!

    Highlights?

How is this thread still going crazy? A few hours without checking new posts, and this thing grows another 2 pages.
I don't rep a lot, so got plenty to hand out. Who wants some? Specify good or bad, or you may be surprised.
