    Hey G!

I have been trying to post to the Classifieds, but to no avail. I tried Firefox and Safari, but both are on Mac OSX. Any forward motion or solution?

Sorry, no real changes or fixed on this problem still.

Other than trying on a different computer....

The process is the same...the only thing we changed was the template layout.

To add images to an ad or to make an edit, click on the "Product Options" dropdown menu and select "Edit Ad". This will bring up an area for you to upload images and make changes to the ad.

LMK if you still need help after trying this, mtbchick.

There was a question posted earlier about "auto notify" and I did not see a response, I want to be notified of parts based on a specific criteria, Is this feature gone?

hello, my ad has expired (30days ..listed on 1/21/12) but i would like to relist it..... for some reason the old ad is marked as sold? is there an easy way to just relist the same ad for another 30 days without doing the whole thing over?

I subscribed to the RSS feed for an ad section, and about half the time that i click on a link from google reader, to view the actual ad on mtbr, it takes me to some scammy spammy site instead. Something like myfilestore.com. I have to close that tab and try the link in the reader again. It always works the second time.

I have a lot of feeds in my reader, and it has never happened on any of them in the years that i've been using the reader, so it's definitely specific to the mtbr feed and not something happening in my reader.

    Hello,
I tried relisting my add and got charged $2.00 twice. It's not shown in the listings at all. How do I get my refund back? What should I do? create a new listing?

Is there a way to edit the ad after it's been placed? I somehow overlooked the section on adding photo's and would really like to be able to post a few.

    Hey Gregg,
I'm gonna be at SeaOtter and wanted to post in that forum a few things to sell. Is this ok? Is there any unofficial swapmeet at SeaOtter?
    Thanks

Sorry, outlierrn, that isn't allowed. If you buy an Mtbr classified ad, you can post as our "unwritten" rules state (check the forum guidelines) but posting in the SO forum isn't exactly kosher.

As far as swap meets, I haven't heard anything.

    Posting an ad

I have gone through the posting process 3 times, but can't get my ad to post. What am I missing? I don't see the point where I pay for the ad before submittal.

This is a known problem with certain classifieds users, however we are unable to replicate the problem ourselves and do not have any fix. It only happens to some users.

The only thing I can suggest is to try from a different computer, if that is possible for you.

Maybe a moderator or somebody else here can help me. I posted an ad and paid my $2. Ad showed up, and I wanted to edit some things. Made changes, submitted. Went back to look at ad, clicked on it, and the the website read: this ad hasn't been paid for. Now the ad is gone. Ad was up for all of two minutes. What should I do? Took me at least an hour to create the dang ad on top of the two bucks it cost me.

Went to renew my add and it was listed as SOLD. This wasn't something that I had done (now I'm wondering how long it was listed as Sold).

Was this done when my add had run-out and by you guy's??

    It's a new ad:

I don't have enough posts to submit a URL.
It's the Trek Fuel EX-8 2010. In the full suspension section.

Or is there some other way I can give you a link?

    Thanks for your help!

I was wondering if it would be possible to add a new (sub)category, one specifically for 29" FS bikes? Theres a 29er category (and you have to filter through them all), theres a FS category (same)... would be nice if there was a dedicated category just for FS 29ers since they are becoming a larger part of the game nowadays. Would help me narrow my search time for sure, and im sure theres others who are in the same boat as well.

    hello Raja,

    Your ad is here:

Trek EX8 Frame 18.5" 2010 - Buy and Sell and Review Mountain Bikes and Accessories

However, renewed ads don't go back to the top like they should. It is actually better to list as a whole new ad.
If you place a new ad, I can delete your old one and give you a credit back for your renewed ad.

    LMK.

To edit (change category, add pix, add/change text, etc...) or remove an ad (mark it as sold or delete it), go to your ad and use the "Product Options" dropdown menu and you will see the options for editing your ad there.

Make sure your images aren't too big (195k in file size or smaller, 1024 pixels wide or tall or less)

You didn't necessarily do anything wrong, Shawn.

Certain classifieds users have this problem, but not all. We are unable to replicate the problem ourselves and haven't found out the common denominator about why it affects some users and not others.

We don't have a fix, but the workaround is to try from a different computer?

For what it's worth, have tried posting a bike for sale from at least 3 different computers so far and no luck. One of the computers has even succesfully posted an ad in the past, but won't now.

How come I can't find the category selection when posting a classified bike ad. I wasn't able to select 29er bike. Am I missing something?

Is there any way to REPOST an ad or do I have to create it all over again? I have checked out the "my ads" section and can not seem to find a way to do it.

Anyone know where I can advertise and sell a trek hybrid? Maybe you should have a all other bikes section, just a suggestion.

Ads run for 30 days. You can upload photos to your ad, but please be sure they aren't too large (195k in file size or less and 1024 pixels wide/tall or less). Ad runs on the Daily Market (aka Latest Ads Posted) page, as well.

You could put the Hybrid in the Hardtails section or on our RoadBikeReview classifieds listings here:
    Main Index - RoadBikeREVIEW.Com

We don't get enough hybrids on our site to warrant it's own category.

There IS a way to renew an ad, but we don't recommend it. Renewed ads do NOT get relisted back to the top (like they really should).

So, for the same $2 cost, it's best to just list as a whole new ad, for best visibility.

    Reserve and Asking Price Question

I am confused! I put a reserve price on my auction, but it also asked for a "asking price" which I put at $20.00 to start the bidding. Someone has bid $21.00 and it looks like they can buy it for that price instead of my reserve price. What did I do wrong!!??

I did a kook move and put ad under the wrong category. I didn't see the option to make the change to categories when I attempted to edit the ad. Any ideas? I posted here thinking that this might be an 'issue'.

    Thanks

To edit (change category, add/change text, etc...) or remove an ad (mark it as sold or delete it), go to your ad and use the "Product Options" dropdown menu and you will see the options for editing your ad there.

Maybe this is a dumb question, but is there generally an accepted definition of "vintage"? I have a 2001 bike I intend to list and I don't think it's vintage but maybe someone thinks it is?

    Renew Classified

I am an idiot. Could someone please tell me how to renew a classified ad? I clicked on the email reminder link I got, and cannot find where to "renew" anywhere? thanks, Dave

Actually, Dave...it's better to NOT renew.

To get back at the top by a new date, you should list a whole new ad (for the same $2 as renewing).

Unfortunately, renewed ads do not go back to the top by the new renewal date like they really should.

Gregg - this forum update this week has made classifieds more challenging.

Specifically, i can't find my own ads... there's not "my ads" button...

I will try to search for it by scrolling through the listings....

Am i missing something, or did we lose functionality?

    Thanks,
    Nathan/ncj01

    Hey Guys,

Here are some workarounds that should help.

-Watch List: 's Watch List - Buy and Sell and Review Mountain Bikes and Accessories

-For list of your ads, if you go to Google and type in: "classifieds.mtbr.com" and your "username" that should bring up a link to your ads.

Due to server instability between the classifieds/gallery and forums, we had to change some settings which, unfortunately, took the links to these features away.

We hope to have the links back soon, but no definite timeline yet. Sorry for the hassle.

Are those all you had or was there another?

I posted an ad a couple of days ago, but cannot post pics, it says they are too big. These are normal pics taken with my wifes camera, my smaller camera, and my dang cell phone. I even tried to upload to photobucket, make them smaller, but it wont let me copy and paste. Ive never had problems on ebay, craigslist, or anywhere else. I wrote mtbreview and have heard nothing back. Extremely frustrated!!!

This has been going on for years. It's too bad the site manager has time to fill 1/3 of the page with obnoxious ads, but can't be bothered to fix the classifieds for the users, who are the only value the site has. I've started using Pinkbike to sell. I have a 1UP USA trainer I need to sell, but will use Craigslist or Ebay before I'll waste time here. Too many alternatives available to suffer this foolishness. Unbelievable they haven't straightened this out after all this time.

Photos for the classifieds have to be 200k or less in file size. The newly upgraded forums here do not have the same limitation.

So exactly what do I do to shrink a photo to this miniscule size, and then upload it to this site? As it stands, I have paid for an ad that does not have a photo, which no one gives a crap to look at, but it doesn't even have an opening thumbnail. These are just regular pics from regular cameras and cell phones. How is everyone else putting them in? As I said, I spent an hour making a few of them smaller to upload from photobucket, but the site would not even let me copy and paste. I'll say it again, how is everyone else posting pics? Surely they all don't have crappy little cameras that shoot this 2MG or less pic. I will spam a post on a regular forum tonight, although I am not sure which thread to post it on. Maybe XC racing. Still, I won't even have an opening thumbnail so many won't even look at it. Ridiculous.

Many users resize their images using an image editing app or program.

My previous suggestion about using the forums isn't a good one, so I removed it (and the comment referring to it). It wasn't good because of the forum image viewing permissions. If you uploaded to our gallery section, that would buy you a little bit larger photo you could upload. The photo limit in the gallery is 400k and photos can be uploaded from here: Login - Mtbr Mountain Bike Photo Gallery Image in the gallery are viewable by all users, not just logged in registered viewers (which is the problem with uploading to the forums.)

I can give you a refund for your classified ad, if you want.

I don't so much care for the $2 I had to pay, or the $2 that I just paid again, it's just how ridiculous this is. I now have small little photos up that are pretty much hard to see. At least there are some photos. So to get photos up, I had to upload them to photobucket, then click on each pic in pb and click to "save as" that put them in my picture file, but on its own...not in any folder. Then I came onto the site and could pick them up with the browser. Nice.

Ever since the forum upgrade, I'm not able to supersize classifieds ads pics. A new window does open, but it just never loads and remains blank. All "supersized" pics showed up before. I don't think it's my computer, as I have the same problem at home and at work.

I tried listing an ad tonight in the front fork section. I payed through PayPal, when I was being redirected back to mtbr it timed out. Now, I don't see my ad.

I copied this from PayPal if it helps:

    Item Title:
Your Classified Ad at Mtbr - Mountain Bike Review
    Item Number: 494a578a3e216d321937078777fe09ed
    Date: Feb 13, 2013
    Time: 16:21:08 PST
    Status: Completed

I posted an ad last night without any issues.

I just posted an ad, and it shows up in searches and the daily market, but I have no idea how to pay. I've posted an ad in the past so I thought maybe you already had my paypal info so would just use that, but I've got nothing from paypal in my email (including spam). I don't mind saving $2, but I'd rather be honest. When/how will I get a bill or whatever to pay y'all?

I hate to jump in in a complaint fest, but just wanted to renew an ad which recently expired and seems to have vanished. Any chance it can be pulled back and reposted or do I need to retype it and add photos etc? I swear I'm not bitter but just have too many bikes!
