New DROP-DOWN MTBR top screen tag

I am very sorry bosses, but this new thing has got to go. It is EXTREMELY ANNOYING!

Most importantly, it partially blocks the view of new posts after one clicks on "post quick reply" or "submit reply".

What am I talking about? It's the top screen drop down in black that appears the moment you scroll down any page on the website.

Yes, it's blocking my view. And I don't see any apparent reason for this, its still the same bar as before, its just lower now and in the way.

    Please remove.

Hate it as well. It makes me scroll down when following the link to newest post in a thread because it covers the newest post.

I can scroll to the top or hit the "Home" key to get there easily.

    Ditch that crap, ASAP.

Yep. Please get rid of it. It occupies valuable screen real estate, especially with today's normal 16:9 monitors in laptops and desktops. Yes, tablets and phones have a taller vs. wider format screen. I don't use 'em to view this site (or any site) with regularity as I do on my desktop.

I also find it really annoying, and would like it gone. From a UI standpoint, there are plenty of other ways to navigate around in the forums. I don't personally think it's adding any value. And then there's this, which is just bad functionality:

If you use an Adblocker you can "block the element" and the annoying turd is gone.

Horrible. As if my screen weren't small enough on my phone. I have about 3/4" area to type in. If I turn the phone sideways, I have no area in which to type.

And, it's too big for the screen, you can't even read the whole thing.

I'm stumbling all over myself to ease up on the vitriol I have for this thing, it's obvious none of the people who invented it actually tried it out before foisting it on us.

    Asinine.

Thought it was just me. It sucks. It obscures the screen. Remove it.

Hey guys, can one of you post a screenshot of the blockage you are referring to and post it her?

I hate it as well. Annoying, covers up posts and is just pointless.

Edit: I just noticed that it also makes the top menu (Forum|Gallery|Classifieds|Latest..) jump to the top. So even if you block the "feature" itself, it's still going to make the site jump as you scroll down.

The top of this screenshot is all I'm seeing at the top of the page. It goes away and back to normal if I were to scroll back to the top of the page.

    Here is what I see.
New DROP-DOWN MTBR top screen tag-screen-blocker.jpg
The gray/black part stays at the top and covers thread info.

It's a sticky header and it's designed to make the search box more accessible.

As you scroll down, it stays at the top.

But it activates AS you scroll down. So, it shouldn't be blocking anything other than what you have already scrolled past.

Are you saying it is blocking more than that?

Mainly just wastes vertical real estate. See feedly.com for a better design.

After replying to this thread, I see what they mean about adding a new post and seeing the header cover what you just posted.

It also covers the post you get when you click on the "read first unread" button.

If the search is the same one we've always had then this new feature is definitely NOT worth it.

Okay, no more screenshots needed. I am able to recreate the issue you are seeing.

    Hold on, I'll be back.

I use Chrome with Adguard, no issues here whatsoever. I blocked the element with Adguard and now the forum is no different than it was before the turd was released into the wild.

If you scroll down just a bit from the top, does the page jump up a bit, even with the header blocked?

Negative. There is no difference to how it was before.
