I guess you all didn't see that Scott bought MTBR's FORUM button.
Yesterday for several hours, at least, clicking on the Forums tab at the top of the MTBR page would forward you to to a SCOTT helmet advertisement with not way to get to the forums.
I tried for 2 hours and never got Forums, just this sh itty Scott helmet sign up for their newsletter advertisement.

I doubt Scott "bought" the forum button for several hours. sounds like the link was corrupt on the webpage and just needed to be restored.

Just the stupid signup for scott's newsletter page.

It was no mistake man, it was an advertising move.

I have never heard of any company purchasing/renting/leasing a main link of their website to another as an advertising scam. I have seen countless times as a forum admin that links get corrupt from time to time and pages and links need to be restored.

I remember back in 2008 when I first got adblock for Firefox. It was amazing. It stuns me to think that 6 years later people still don't use adblockers.

Not sure how stuff like that happens. For a while last year random posts were being redirected to a Walmart page. I examined the posts many times and couldn't see what was happening. Almost like a DNS error.
I find Pinkbike is bad for that - sometimes the front page just goes to a video and you can't get out of it.
    Programming/scripting error?

Also I forgot to add that if it was forwarding you to a page that was requesting you to sign up for something it could have been a phishing hack. It happens. not every scam is about sending money to a Nigerian prince. what better way to scam mtb'ers than with something mtb related?

It affected every physical navigation link button on the home page of MTBR.

It was not a local ad-ware hijack on my machines.
It did disappear after a few hours.

The emailed links to specific threads worked fine, like I am sent when this thread is replied to.
