    want to lose my Rennen...

I'm looking at getting rid of the chain tensioner on my '96 Stumpjumper M2 Comp frame. I am currently running a 32 x 18 setup. I'm looking at either trying out a different gear setup 32 x 17? or something similar.

I have thought about an eno hub, but I'm not sure I want to drop the $ for one of those yet.

Anyone have experience to know what gearing works without a tensioner on this frame.

Just ride down there and jump off something for crying out loud...

I'd say just try it and see how close you can get. You can always add a half link if you have a particular gear set you want to run and you're off by (finger and thumb in the air) that much.

The added benefit of SS specific cogs and rings is taller teeth that generally hold onto the chain better when there is a little slack.

But you probably already know all this.
If you spent the coin on an ENO wheel, you would probably be stoked, and make it last you a long time, perhaps even into your next ss bike build?
