The is as ugly as I got:

My introduction into 29'ers. Bought it used at a price so low that if I didn't like it I could make a profit off it. It was okay, but never really moved me. Didn't have that certain zing a good steel frame has, but it served me well.

    This was kind of ugly...

ha, it's a 62cm. I have long legs for my height. World's heaviest top shelf Madone.... 18lbs even. She needs some new wheels. It's all ebay parts. Also most likely the world's cheapest Madone.

I used to think your bike was ugly, but after seeing 80 or 90 different pictures of it on these boards, it's really kind of grown on me.

Yes I did post it a lot when it was new to me, but I'm not the only one on here doing that it is just the most distunguished bike so it got the most attention but I haven't posted it in quite a while. I said this back in spring, as soon as summer starts and I start working full time and riding again I won't have time to post pics. This pic I just posted is a couple months old at least

I can build lots more of equal awesomeness:

the only really nice thing on this bike is the rear wheel, which I built around an ENO hub.

agreed, the stem on that trek looks like a twig, but maybe that's and optical illusion.

Yep, optical illusion between the 1" quill to threadless adapter and the 1+1/8" threadless stem. 150mm+ quill stems worked just fine on lots of old school bikes, they just didn't look as funny (in this particular way) because the diameter of the stem body was proportional to the diameter of the quill

A lot of those older bikes were "ugly" in their own awesome ways, like this

It's a Easton EA30 stem and it's a 120mm I've taken it on some singletrack before with this stem and it's ok flexes like a noodle though.

Did you actually used a second stem as spacers and to hold the cables housing ??

Or just a backup in case the top one go wrong

The picture doesn't really do justice. For some reason, it looks better on the web than it does in real life. I'll see if I can bet a more telling photo.

I like to think the extra stem on that trek must be there to repair a cracked steerer tube....infriggingenius! I bet it doubles as a shot glass caddy. Even if I'm wromg I'm givin' rep

Nope, its simply a training bike for riding courses... When the instructor is assisting the client, he simply put a second handlebar on, just like they used to do with cars

O.K. I guess I'm going to have to work a bit harder for an ugly build. This one really looks beat up, and mismatched in person, but I guess I'm just not trying hard enough.

Here is my old KHS that i used as a snow bike. I built a snow jump in my front yard and needed a bike to jump it with. I took off my shift cables and tighten down the derailers so they would not move and my first SS was born. Some of the pics from the first day.. others are what it had progressed to right before i sold it.
