Thinking of building up a Johnny Rotten...
by Ionic w/vertical drops and the EBB (pinch style). Just wondering if anyone has one
and what they think of it or if anyone knows anything about it.

got one, and i love it. ionic (made by the folks of DEAN bikes) can be a bit slow, so be prepared to wait a bit longer, maybe, than they tell you. mine is a stock size-no idea how they are with the custom stuff. my only beef is/was that my rear tire clearance. i could only fit a 2.1, and asked them about sending it back to have them crimp the stays a bit, they said nope. did it myself. i'm sure if you asked at time of order, they could make it with more room. i was just stupid, and didn't ask about rear tire clearance when i ordered.....
having said that. the headset, bottom bracket, and seatpost all went in nice and smooth.
rear wheel and disc mount the same-no problems.i'd assume it's all straight, but i'm using avid discs-the cps system takes up any slack if my disc mount is off; it looks nice and straight though.
the ebb on mine is a bushnell. guessing they use the same now, but am not sure. it's been problem free. slipped only on my initial setup, when i was figuring out how tight it needed to be. no problems since.
some recent threads showing mine. using a 29" karate monkey fork, with a 26" tire. gets the front end up nice and high like i want, to match my hardtail with a sussy fork. the headtube is long, so you don't really need a bunch of spacers.
Sloppy Dakota Ridge + Dirty Dirty White Ranch
Wendsday Nooner +/- 1.5 hours
on sale now for a very good price. actually the same as i paid for mine about a year and a half ago.

Honestly, how long are you willing to wait? I am now on my 16th week of waiting and it gets pretty frustrating working with Ionic/Dean. I'm trying to stay positive and especially not bash them as I haven't received the frame yet, but it gets harder and harder as they tell you one more week every other week. While you might think it won't take long if you get a stock size, it will take pretty much just as long as a custom size. They have all the tubes ready to build the bikes, which means you can't call up and expect to have a stock frame sitting there, they will still have to build it for you.

They can do a Bushnell, but that would push the price up and when I asked about it they flat out said to go for the pinch bolt because that's the one they are used to doing so it will be better.
If you do end up getting a JR, be sure to very explicitly ask what they are doing for painting. I was told over the phone they are going to bring painting in house, which could also cause more delays, all this because the current painter is just taking too long as he does bikes for lots of other companies.
At this point, if I had it all to do again, I would probably go with a custom Vulture for just a little more than the custom JR turned out to be.
