    Surly disc hubs...how strong?

    Hi

Already did a search and read what I could.....blah blah blah. Just wanted to ask those who use them about my specific wants:

    I'm 240lbs
    Ride aggro-trail w/ 4" [ edit - uhh, I meant 4' ] natural drops/jumps
like to do a little dj-ing and bmx track riding
    ride a hardtail

The Surly disc hubs look nice, will they be a good fit for me and my riding?

Also, All I have even ridden is Sun SingleTrack rims. Can you recommend another rim that will be comparable, as I have given thought to try something new.

For "online" builders, would meantodd be the guy to see?

    Thanks for responses

4 inches? That's seriously aggro, dude! I think the Surly's will hold up ok.

    Good job!

I used to be 240lbs....now down to a svelt 225!

I've nothing but good things to say about the "New" Surly hubs, I have 'em on two bikes, and they hold up just dandy. Rims.....hmmmm....I really REALLY like the Salsa Semi's, Rhynolite's second. Never had to true either wheelset. DT's and brass nips, 'natch..

I often do 6-8 inch drops....and the occasional TWELVER!!

I've seen you hit those occasional twelvers! You rock.

Another suggestion for wheel building would be Speed Dream. I bought a pair of wheels from Dave in 2001 that have never required trueing despite their rider's considerable lack of skillz.
