    single speed to geared conversion?

I am thinking of converting an old horizontal drop out frame to a geared bike. The 1st option I was thinking about was welding a hanger on to the frame or try one of these :

    Anyone tried this method?

welding would be tricky because you would need a steel hanger (assuming you have a steel frame.)

those fire eye tensioners are looking mighty nice for my cog.

thread hijack: could i put a hanger from a cheap bike with a nutted axle on my Cog (horizontal drops) and put a temporary derailleur on it? i have a spare wheel, a cassette, and an XT derailleur.

    a hanger like this-

    this might work too.
