    rear qr on a ss?

Is it possible to run a converted QR rear hub on a horizontal dropout bike?
    Is it a bad idea?
    Thanx... Toddre

Yes, it is doable, no it is not a bad idea.

I run QRs and use a Surly Tuggnut to keep it from slipping. BulC always tells people that if you use a good quality steel skewer and clamp it down good and tight, you're fine without the Tuggnut. I haven't tried it his way but I have no reason to doubt him. I say just try it and if you have slipping problems then just buy a Tuggnut.

It depends if you are talking horizontal or track ends. Track ends its ok because the wheel will want to pull forward into the dropout, no problems there. Horizontal dropouts, the wheel will want to pull forward thus coming out of the dropout, not so good. FWIW I run a QR clamped quite tightly on horizontal droputs without any real issues.
