Pics of the Blizz as a SS....

I realized that I never posted any pics of my Blizzard as a SS. Since it's been over a year now, I suppose I can commit to admitting that I am, in fact, a single speeder. Here they are in all they're low res glory (sorry, th epics are from a video capture so it's the best I can do).

    Peace y'all!

That bike is really nice. I am still wondering why you were going to the Santa Cruz. Is that in addition to the RM or in place of?

Jeff, no way would I ditch the Blizz. The SC is in addition to it. I was beating the Blizzard up too much riding urban and jumping on it and I didn't want to just use the bmx because I wanted a trail bike/jumper. I'd race the Rocky but ride the Chameleon a lot for non race, non epic adventures.

Believe it or not, 32x17 fits sans tensioner and its the perfect ratio for just about everything I ride. I can also fit a 32x15 without tnesioner for park so I guess i got really lucky. I still think that Iron Maiden shirt was the shiznit at the SO! Way to go man!

slowSSer, thanks. I actually thought about having an ebb welded in and then doing a repaint. Even suggesting it before got me flamed from everyone for the very reason tha tthe paint job is cool. good thing the 32x17 fits huh?

    Blizz Questions

Nice bike man! I have a '04 Blizzard and would like to do run it SS. Did you use the SS conversion links if the FAQ to figure out the gearing? Or did you use trial and error? Any other gear ratios that work for you other than 32X17 and 32X15? Are you using a King cog or a BMX one? I would like to run it without the tensioner until the ENO eccentric disc comes out. Any info would be great.

thanks man. I did use some trial and error to figure it out. The 32x17 works with a half link only but the 32x15 works straight away. I would have a tough time with any other usable ratio (meaning, I could get some to fit but would never ride those gear setups). As for the cog, I have been using an old hyperglide 17t but will switch to the Mosh bmx cogs Brad is hooking me up with. Frankly, the King cogs are pretty expensive (although less than a cassette). The Fix Me up site on the FAQ's is grate for looking at ratios but you really need to play with them on the bike since little things will effect what you can use. For instance, moving the chainline a bit inboard or outboard can make things tighter/looser as can wear on a chain and/or the cogs.

All that said, I have not dropped a chain using either the 32x17 or 32x15 setup and have used it that way for about a year. Get a halflink from Spicer Cycles and you're good to go sans tensioner.
