New to ss, not to mtb

So I've been pedaling for a while now, and now I just got the SS bug. Have a Niner SIR9 set up 2x10, and Im planning to convert it to SS using a set of spacers for my rear wheel, new STYLO 1.1 crank (32T) and the EBB that came with my frame.

This is my "all around" bike, mostly XC, single tracks, dry-fire roads, most of the times I do 39T in the front and 17T in the back, that's my regular gear, some other times when pedaling to the trails I go down to the last 2 cogs, but that's not that common.

Im planning to keep my 2x10 set up just in case SS is not my thing.

Question, what gear ration would you recommend? Thinking 32T front, 20 in the back, is that too hard for a beginner?

Generally speaking, for a 29er, 32x20 is a good place to start. But it depends on the area you're in. SIR9's a good bike. I've got a One9 myself.
