Shimano Deore Octalink crank (here) and Octalink BB (here). You would also need a set of crank bolts. I wouldn't say that it has lots of "style", just stealthy dependability. I just bought this combo last month and the total for everything including tax and shipping was less than $75

Ebay also has great deals on new cranksets, such as this newer Deore crankset with outboard BB

LX cranksets at Jenson for $99?

    http://www.jensonusa.com/store/produ...+Crankset.aspx

But you might still want a non-ramped chainring.

My LX cranks are an older model than that, but all the LX cranks I've seen have 3 separate chainrings. You'll need shorter bolts or washers, though, when you remove the outer chainring.

Ive got a set of Race Face deus-180mm that have the exo cups/bearing setup.

Stiffest out there and great for singlespeeding- id probably get rid of this set for around $120.
They also have the PHIL WOOD aftermarket bearings vs. the crappy RF ones.

I am digging stuff out of my spares box this week and selling stuff off.

feel free to pm me at bugsnbikes@yahoo.com if interested

I know they are a little more than $100, but they are worth a little more too. C'mon fork over a little extra and get a little extra.

Are you kidding? Those LX cranks are XT cranks with steel chainrings bolts. That's it.

You could get a Shimano m440 crankset for about $45. Nothing flashy...matte black...but solid hunks of steel or alloy (not sure which). I've yet to find a way to break mine. Then get a Shimano UN-54 square taper BB for $25..... post up again when you need new parts in about 15 years Not the lightest setup.....but good ol' fashioned functional for a long long time.
    8 is great

I just put these Stylo's on my new Jamis Exile build yesterday. Haven't ridden them yet, so time will tell. $89 w/ BB.

I got an XTR M960 without Bottom Bracket for $50 shipped. I got a blackspire ring and XT BB for another $40. Then I put a lot of work into it. Meets your criteria

I run FMF BMX cranks on my singy. They came with a BB and they are black and went with my ninja motif. the only problem is the FMF website has been down for some time now. I just remember they were mad cheap and they work great. I think you can find them cheap on flea-bay.

but its over 100 dollars , plus you have to find a single speed chainring and bolts.
