Mystery frame? Sliding dropouts, Wishbone rear stays, steel, 700c or 26?

I'm trying to get an idea as to what this can be before considering buying it. It has 26" wheels on now but seems like it has minimal spacing in the chainstays but plenty of room on the wishbone rear seatstays. I was thinking it might actually be a cyclocross bike with a cheap fork stuck on it.

Frame looks large too but not sure if its supposed to be traditional geo or mountain.

Any ideas as to what it could be? I did a bunch of searches for sliding drop outs with wishbone rear stays and haven't seen anything similar. It's got basic welds and design and simple finishing of the rear dropout welds.

I'm hoping its a decent frame someone painted and slapped a bunch of junk on.

looks like a decent frame with paragon sliders. I would say it's an older 26" mtb from the clearance, but running 700c road tyres should work. No idea who made it.
