Nice, but they get lost in the advertising. Maybe a special box to highlight them as more than just text?

??? I see the 100 newest threads on the first page now, instead of 99. ???

Not that my opinion matters compared to the regulars, but I liked it the old way. The new way, I can't see any details of the topic, like who the author is, how many posts there are, who the most recent responder is and when that response was, or whether there are pictures. I can't even tell that it's even a sticky.

    my 2 cents

I would have bever noticed them if you didnt point out they were there. I agree with BikeHigh that they were much more noticable before, and isn't that the whole ponit of creating a Sticky?? I think the threads were better left in the regular list, even if you dont make them a sticky. If people are interested, they will keep the post on top of the page, otherwise, does it really deserve a sticky??

By the way, on the monitor at work, I cant see the sticky notice without scrolling over, so i doubt people with small monitors will ever see them. I only scroll right so that I can click to the next page, but i rarely look past the first page of posts.

Nice try, but instead you could ..

    (1) Move the Jericho Ad to the right (never happen!)
    (2) Move "my account" and Forum tree to the right.

I agree with pacman... The account info, and forum tree take up more screen space than the sticky threads. How about moving the forum jump: combo-box to the right also.

I like the sticky threads, with the other threads. Thanks, but no thanks ...

Just to clarify, the normal style sticky threads are still available. And we'll continue to use them whenever needed..

The key is to not keep them sticky too long and not to have too many of them. Also, when there's an event a few months in the future, it's not a good idea make it sticky for months but rather make a special place for it on the right.

Incidentally, whenever y'all think a thread should be made sticky, email/pm shiggy the moderator or me.

good for you francois for cleaning up the board. It's about time that someone did something about it, as I know shiggy will never do anything about it.

First things first, Thanks to Francois et al. for MTBR and the cool discussion boards. I have learned a lot and met some very cool folks because of this site. I will weigh in with my opinion. I liked the stickies the old way simply because I wasn't likely to overlook them. In their current location I have to scroll over to see them and will most likely forget about them. I understand that you have a logical reason for the new location. As a compromise, maybe you can put a reminder as to their new location where they used to be. Maybe a link to the stickies at the top of the list would be a good idea as well.
    Thanks again Francois!
