how much susp travel does your fork currently have? To keep the same head angle and bottom bracket height you would need a 29er fork with almost 40mm less suspension. You could get one with only 20mm less suspension and have a slightly slacker front end and a higher frame which results in the wheel flopping more on climbs and other handling changes.

    sounds like to much trouble
might as well start saving up to build a 69er SS

A rigid fork would be the easiest as all you have to do is find a fork with the proper axle-crown distance--40mm less than whatever your axle to crown is now. A suspension fork is a little trickier because like boomn said, its going to have to be pretty short travel to the appropriate steering geometry unless you are running a frame designed for a ~130+mm fork. I'd go over to the 650B, 69er & New Wheel Trends subforum and see if you can cram a 650B wheel/tire in your current fork.
