    Loose fork/star nut??

I have a lot of play forward and backward in my fork it is rigid..
When I tighten the bolt that goes to star nut in steerer tube
it either spins out, givin the feelin of a stripped bolt..
Or if II mange to get it to grip ,the top half of star nut
comes out of top of steerer tube....

I reused the star nut from the forks I had on there before
    if that makes a diff......?????/??

Do you have enough stack height combined between your spacers and stem so that there's a bit of spacer sticking over the top tube when the stem is on and the topcap is completely loose?

Make sure to also tighten the topcap, with the stem and enough spacers on the steerer, before you tighten down the stem bolts.
Sometimes, I question the value of my content.
