    KMC 610 SS chain

Really the packaging says BMX chain its pretty stout! I broke my second SRAM PC-1 chain this weekend with roughly ~120 miles on it. The first one I broke I will admit I neglected, but the second I babied. It snapped in two places. Im taking it as SRAM telling me I gained two much weight over the holidays! Shop guy was perplexed saying my gearing was to tough and I needed to back down to a steeper gear. Nah. I have had KMC chains before with no problems. Have not ridden this yet but soon. Its heavy, but so am I!

bmx freestyle riders LOVE the kmc z510hx chain, which is a 1/8" wide version of the 610. I have had one forever and it seems to never die.

PC-1 is the only POS chain SRAM makes as far as I know. I run their 8- & 10-spd chains... they're awesome... but the PC-1, no way. PC-1 has been garbage for years; I don't know why SRAM continues to offer it.

I install a bajillion of them a year on cruiser bikes that have been neglected and left out in the elements all school year (college town). That's my best guess to continue offering it, only place they're really appropriate.

I also agree with you that their geared chains are great.

The last chain I snapped(scram) nearly resulted in a endo riding up hill. I don't mess around, the kmc 610 is the SS chain. Being relatively cheap I replace it once a season.

After many snapped chains I ended up on a 610 because I wanted a ss specific 3/32 chain.

I have run the KMC 8.93 and z610hx with great confidence. That x1 looks like a great option as well. I hear the k810 chain is also very strong. Pick a price, slap one of these on, and put the power down. These are strong chains.

I bought some Z610HX chains ($25 for two on Amazon. Couldn't find them anywhere else...) a few months ago. I've never had problems with SRAM 870's (or any 8XX or 9XX I've run), but wanted to try them. They look stout and quite a bit heavier. Will try them IF my SRAM's ever quit.

I ran the 610 for a year in muddy wet conditions and lubed it like once and it never failed me. I'm running the SRAM 870 without issue right now.
