Jamis Komodo v Iron Horse Maverick

Jamis Komodo Specs (Asking price 400$)
    2006 Jamis Komodo 3.0 frame
    Single speed conversion
Race Face bottom bracket and cranks
    Sun ringle rims
    Holy Roller Tires
    Avid BB7 disc brakes
    Marzocchi Bomber Z150 front fork
    Truavit Stem
    Cane Creek headset

Iron Horse Maverick (Asking price 350$)
    2009? Iron Horse Maverick frame
    Suntour Epicon RLD front fork
    Forte Xenduro wheelset
    carbon seat post + Bars
    DMR sts singulator
A1 pedals + Lizard Skin peaty grips
    No brakes

The second has much better specs in general, apart from the fork, but I would spend around 200$ for avid BB7 and levers on the bottom bike as he wont sell with brakes. If you have any insight on the Suntour Epicon fork please let me know, I cannot find much about it. Any experiences or ideas would be helpful. Thanks

Google the Epicon. There are reviews and they have been around for awhile but overseas and are OEM on some newer bikes but there are several models so I don't know which one you are looking at...look here: Interbike Outdoor Demo Day #2

I would be incline to do the 1st one...but how 'bout tossing up a couple of pics?

    Jamis Komodo 3.0
17" Iron horse MTB hard tail

I am inclined a bit to the first as well. I wouldn't have to pay for new brakes, and therefor it would be cheaper, and for the nicer fork alone I think it'll suit my needs better if I decide to take it on some light downhill trails or something.

Having broken 11 frames and counting, I myself never buy a used bike unless it's for the parts. The reason you buy a new frame and pay the extra $$ is that you get a warranty. Komodo frames, although they have very nice specs, are known for breaking.

How do you check for blown seals? Just liquid coming out of the fork? To my knowledge, it is not a kid selling it, and I am judging by the look of the bike that it was taken care of. I definitely know I wont be buying anything without serious inspection first though. Anything in particular you guys think I should look for other than the obvious broken/cracked frame, handle bar, seat post, fork, etc?
