I've been riding my 18" Jabber for about four weeks, previously on a Rita 29er and Monocog 29er. I like my Jabber for the stability and ride feel, but it's a real slow turner, serious head wagger. I'm running the 2007 Reba SL from my Rita, I think it's a 38mm offset, have it set at 100mm, so that is probably part of the problem.
This morning I was riding with a buddy and switched bikes for a while, rode his Badger 29er and man what a huge difference. The Badger was quick-quick, sorta reminded me of the Monocog. He's running the same fork set up, but of course the Badger geometry is different.
So my question is this: Will reducing my Reba to 80mm really change that much? If not, then how much quicker can I get the handling if I was to invest in a newer 42-46mm offset fork like the Fox, Manitou, or WB?
I wanna like the Jabber, but it is way to slacker for me at this point, and it's so beautiful, it's ORANGE
Thanks for the feedback, I think I'll reduce the fork to 80mm, then wait on a Fox or maybe the Reba Uturn
Here's my new baby! I went out to Colorado for two weeks of backcountry skiing earlier this month, the Jabber was my ticket to ride when I got to a closed FS road out behind Crested Butte. Gears would have been nice for the steeper hills, try standing to crank with fifty pounds on your back!!
