Girlfriend finally gives in to the urge

My girlfriend and I have been riding and racing for a number of years.

I've been riding SS exclusively the last year and a half and just finished my best race season ever

I'd offered many times to build her an SS of her own ,She loves the idea of a LIGHT ride and has been showing more and more interest, but as we have built fat bikes and SS road bikes this past year she was felt we'd spent more than enough money on wheeled fun.

I woke up yesterday with an idea. Between building bikes for myself, two sons and my girlfriend for years , I was sure that my garage would yield all the parts I would need to build her an SS WITHOUT SPENDING A DOLLAR!

And here it is........... we're on our way to the forest this afternoon

    Nice... it looks ALL FINE.

You may find you need a Jump Stop and a guard ring while using a sprung tensioner. In any case, great looking machine, especially considering it was thrown together from spare parts.

when you get the chance get a push up tensioner like the surly singleator or the gusset squire

Hey Nuck, the Alfine tensioner does push up -- in the same way a rear der does -- and functionally is a superior tensioner to the ones you mentioned. As far as aesthetics, I'm not fond of any chain tensioner, least of all the bulky ones like the Alfine, but function certainly trumps form here.

    That's a sweet bike.

I am 5' 4" maybe the frame size would fit my body.

I'm going to try and get my girlfriend to ride SS over the winter. I'm going to show her this thread and then tell her that SS bikes look a lot cuter.
