    Gearing Question

I've been running a 32/15 on my giant which gives me perfect chain tension with no need for a tensioner. I'd really like to go 32/16 though cuz the 15 is a little bit too tough (maybe i'm gettin old or something). Here's my problem; 32/16 gives me huge amounts of chain slack. If I run a singulator in the push down position it skips over the rear cog (Simano DX, brand new), if i run it in the push up position it hits the chainstay. I really don't want to resort to using a rear deraileur as a tensioner (all i have is an xtr) but it's the only solution i can think of right now. ENO would work, but here in Canada ENO = $250 plus a rim and spokes. Don't have that right now. Any help would be apreciated. Thankee.............

Add 4 teeth and another full link to your chain and you'll have pretty much the same chain tension.

Try 34-17 if you can - you will have essentially the same chain tension as what you are running now, but give you the 2:1 ratio, same as a 32-16.

    Thanks. I'll try that.
