First SS and 29er build in progress!

Picking up my On-One Scandal 29er frame tomorrow, first time for me on a 29er, plan is to ride it as a single speed, which would be a first for me as well Cannot wait!

fun starts now to start building it up. I have a XT crankset that I would like to use on the scandal, is it as easy as removing the big chain ring and granny and using the 32 middle blade and run 16 in the back? Or do i need to modify the crankset a little?

Many folks will tell you that 32/16 is too big a gear for a 29", HOGWAsh!! Run that and see how you like it. You will get used to it. Remember momentum is key, Charge it brah!

    +1 on a 2:1 on the 29er.

Yea, it's definitely as easy as removing the rings...
Since you're ditching the big ring, you could consider adding a cool bash guard. If your XT cranks are 4 bolt, 104BCD, the Blackspire Lite god is a cool looking, lightweight bash.

If you're not running a bash guard, you're either going to have to get shorter chainring bolts, or modify yours on the old grinder.

Sure, start with 32:16. Just make sure you have some ****** cogs as well in case you find any mountains

Mine is set up as a dinglespeed with 32x20 for trails and 36x16 for getting across town to the trails. Lately I get to the park and just hit the trails with the 36x16; it is super fast and fun as heck, but I can't do any of the significant climbs in that gear. Even 32x18 was a problem for me on the long 1000ft climbs

Not sure, yet Looking at some stuff. Probably a on-one rigid fork, thomson seatpost and stem, maybe middleburn crank, and will see from there.
