    First Singlespeed

I'm thinking about buying my first singlespeed, and I was wondering if yall think this is a good deal.

Its a Jamis Dakota Elite 17.5 Frame with carbon fiber stays
    Tektro hydraulic disc brakes
Mavic CrossRide wheels with nice tires on them
    Truvativ single speed crank
16T rear cog and Sette chain tensioner
    Thompson seatpost and Serfas saddle

    for $550.

Also, I haven't biked in forever, so any advice at all is welcome

Hard to gauge used stuff without photos & actually kicking the tires. Personally I'd prefer a SS that didn't require an extraneous tensioner. I think you can get a brand new Monocog for about that same dollar... probably have rim brakes but I'm not sure Tektro hydros are worth seeking out... I don't know.

If you have a local buddy who rides a lot, have him take a look at it. It's so touch & go with used stuff.

We don't quit riding because we get old.

doesnt seem like a great deal unless it had a real decent suspension fork on it.
