Does anyone make a 4-arm XTR Spider?

    And if so, where can I get one? I'm talking 2002 XTR, 952 series...I don't want 5-arm!

Not sure if they are still available but AC used to sell spiders for the xtr cranks. Check with Cambria bike (cambriabike.com) They used to have them listed on their old site.

I just took an old worn out XTR 46t, and cut the chainring off, leaving just a "spider". After sanding and smoothing out the rough edged, it looks like something that a speciality shop would produce. Looks great, works flawlessly, and was "free".

AC used to make one for sure, maybe check out cambria as mentioned before.

If that doesn't work out, try looking for a spider made by TA specialte. That's a euro company, but i'm not sure if they are available in the US though.

This is what it looks like (bit blurry but you'll get the idea):

    It is available online here

Another option is Middleburn, again not sure if it is available in the US otherwise check
    here

    hope this helps you,
    Richard.

ps. I can get you a beter shot of the spider if needed, just let me know.

Just use a spider for the last previous Shimano LX/XT. I think that it cost about $30 but you can purchase it at any lbs.

Problem with that spider is that is a 112mm BCD (aka XTR fitting), not the "standard" 104mm BCD as found on XT/LX/deore. Spot and the rest of the aftermarket ss ring makers, make the rings in that (104 BCD) dimension.

Plus XTR stuff is always horrible expensive .

Try to find an old XT/LX level spider as mentioned above (i think modelyear 2000ish) that would problably be easier to locate.

if it's a LX crank of the 570 type then yes, it should work. Check this link if you need to get a shimano order nr.

The site is btw a very good one to bookmark, since it's got about every exploded view of a shimano part and order nr you could ever need.

    hope this helps you, cheers
    Richard.
