    Custom handlebars, any ideas?

I posted a couple of days ago about a custom Jones h-barish thing I wanted to have built. I'd like to do it on the cheap so I'd have it done in steel. Anyone had a custom steel handlebar made? How much did the builder do it for?

    This should be the link:

    Thanks for any info!

    i'm making one

i'm currently building a h-bar style handlebar. fillet brazed, straight gauge cromo. i'd charge about $100 for the job. i'm not "in business" at the moment. no liability insurance so its too risky. but its only two fillets and a couple feet of steel, so $100 seems about right.

    try this

Find out what kind/s of aluminum and steel have been used for handlebars. AND dimensions/thickness. You could then give that info to a welder with a design of your own.

Hey, I thought of it. I just haven't done it.

That design eliminates the spot where I have my v-brake levers mounted (on the extension in front of the bar.) What are you going to do about that?

The idea behind these bars is to approximate my track bike lo-pros, while adding the h-bar angled part, so I'd probably either put cyclocross-style top levers (which are pretty short), or just lengthen the rearward angled part a little more to give room for the brake lever clamp.
