Some riders unclick one foot while cornering going doing hill and slide their bike to turn faster. Is this a matter of personal riding technique or do you find this offensive? I personally do not conden anyone who does it, but I prefer to be click all the time to improve my riding skills.
Normally I'd never skid,.. braking slow's you down. And it's stupid because it ruins trails.
The other day I took a bit too tight an arch around a big rock, and had to quickly slide out the rear to make the rearwheel clear it. But that's the rare ocassion.
it's funny how the gravity oriented crowd have come up with new names for skidding to try to justify it, like "falling in" and "cutty". if it displaces alot of dirt, it's probably a skid, and is wrong for all the same reasons a skid is. as someone else said, on a purpose built, restricted use(no hiking, unidirectional) trail, have at it, whatever is fastest. but on public lands it's a nono.
