Converting Shimano compatible DT240 to singlespeed?
I have a set of wheels with DT240 hubs, Shimano splined, that I'd like to use on my SS rig, with Chris King ss cogs. Can the DT240 be converted?

I'm going to build a second set of wheels that will be for a geared bike. Worst case scenario would be tearing my current wheels down and rebuilding with a new hub. I'd rather NOT do that. Second question--if there's not an easy way to convert the existing DT240 that I have, can I get a DT240 singlespeed hub and just swap out the hub body that the cassette or cog mounts to (between the standard dt240 and the ss dt240)?

All you need is the cog and a spacer set.

Also, most SS hub bodies are shorter than geared ones.

Great!! It looks like the splines on the cog are different from a Shimano hub, though. Are they the same?

ALL mountain bike hubs have the same spline pattern on the freehub body.

This changes a bit when we start talking about road hubs.

King SS cogs will work great on the DT240 hub, it's wide at the base so it wont dig into the aluminum freehub body. Just need some spacers.
