I wanna convert my '90 fisher advance (tange frame, cromo fork) to give this SS stuff a go. I was wondering if I should keep the canti's on there or get some v-brakes. The current brakes suck, but I'm not sure if thats just the 15 year old pads being dried out. One of the local shops has some cheap tektro v-brakes complete with cables, handles, etc. for $12. Should I get those, or just put new pads on the canti's and hope for the best. I'd like to keep it cheap, and I kinda remember the old bike stopping better in its day. But I've been on hydros for a while, and these brakes currently suck.
