Built Leader 510 Singlespeed for $20

Well I had a bunch of old parts laying around, so I thought I would build up a bike for the neighborhood. Something to lock up at the store or school and not worry about being stolen. My thought was to make it as bare as possible, so I only installed the rear brake. I just needed some wheels/tires, which I took from a friend's old Trek 850 he had sitting on the side of his house. I only had to buy the SS conversion kit and some grips, about $20. The wheels are so old, the conversion spacers didn't both fit, so I took up the slack with some cogs off an old 8speed cassette and a 1.25" I.D. washer. Kinda looks like a big BMXer to me.

I didn't really get the SS thing until I built this. I love this thing. It's fun as heck to cruise around on. I'm tempted to put on a front brake and take it up into the hills.

Pretty sweet for a bang around town beater! Get a front brake on that thing, go 32x20 or so and get that baby on the trails!
