    BB questions

hey all, i just had a quick question about BB size for SS. i'm building up an old Specialized Hardrock into a SS machine. i have a UN52 BB that is 107 m in length. i put it in the bike and found that it is way to small. the chainrings and crank arms don't clear the chainstays. i was wondering if anyone has an info abotu what size is best to use to provide the proper clearance.

    totally depends on your crankset.

since you're already got a bb you're halfway there. install your crankset on the 107, then measure from the centerline of your chainring to the center on the seat tube. now compute how far from the bikes centerline your rear cog sits. figure out the delta between those two numbers and it's pretty easy to figure out what length bb spindle you need.

    good luck.
