    Australian Single Speed Championships 2009

Hey anybody on MTBR.com considering making the pilgrimage to the 2009 Australian Single Speed Championships(ASSC)?

The Sydney Single Speed Society (SSSS) are hosting the event in conjunction with a club from New South Wales Hunter Valley Region.. ah, it's being held in Newcastle on the last weekend in November (28/29) and knowing the key organiser (Aido) it should be fun as...

Probably will build onwards and upwards from the successful and very fun 2008 ASSC hosted by us (www.bottlesandchains.com) in Hobart last year.. http://www.flickr.com/photos/entyrit...7604733843610/ http://mtbteam.baumcycles.com/2008_04_01_archive.html

There is something on twentysixinches on it, but no entries yet.

I'm planning on being there, riding the 8hr Fat Tyre the weekend before should be a good warm up.

You going TR, would like to check out the new niner.

Hoping to be as are a few other Brisbanites.
We also have a few interested in heading to RotoVegas next year for the Worlds.
Hopefully the Sir will be built up this week.
Will you have the Jones there??
If so, please tell me it is a 24".

Yes am planning on using the Jones, it's a 23" but you can take it for a spin if you like.

Might take you up on that although at 6'3" tall I think I will be a little too big.

Pretty sure I'll be heading down provided my new frame arrives. Ive been waiting patiently for 4 months for my Blacksheep SS Ti frame, James has indicated it will be complete in 2 weeks an then another 2 weeks for shipping/customs etc.

It will be close but hopefully enough time to get a few rides on her before heading down.

    What's Awaba like?

Can anyone tell me what the course(s) at Awaba are like?

Steep, flat, rocky, smooth?, planning on riding the rigid and thinking about what ratios to bring.

    thanks

It was stinking hot, 40 degrees C, nearly killed me and I pulled out early.

Don't know how the other guys did a decent speed, something to do with being fit maybe.

I got your tensioners ISAR, secend set made it down here.

    Many thanks

Sweet tracks, cool bunch of guys and beer....all the ingredients you need for Single Speed fun!

Had some issues with my rear hub but got it fixed just in time to dump down a sausage on some bread 5 mins before race start. The beer got me to the finish line 4 laps later, one beer per lap bar the first so as to ease into it.

And waste all that lovely free beer....

It was only a race for the serious at heart, although I finished I was only there in good spirit. Most fun event Ive attended to date even if it was 40 degrees
