    1/8 half link on a 3/32 chain?

Is it possible and safe? The reason I ask is because I have a 3/32 chain already bought for my SS build, and I also have an extra 1/8 half link for my fixie. I thought I could mate the two and come out of my SS build without the need of a chain tensioner. Any thoughts?

I have converted a 1/8" half link to a 3/32" by replacing the roller. Take a look at the pictures here:

thanks for the pics, but how did you break apart the half link? Can I use a regular chain tool?

lookie there! i've been searching for a half link for 3/32 but was told they weren't made. well i guess i'll do what you did. i checked my spare links and looks like it will/should work with no adverse effects (i hope) . let's see what happens .

KMC finally decided to make them. You can but them online at AEBike for $5.00 + S&H.

    Ziggy-Stardust > hehe sweet!

Jinks > I couldn't use a chain tool to hack it, the pin is hollow, I used a pair of pliers and just "plopp", I had two pieces.

As said before, there is 3/32" half links, http://harriscyclery.net/site/itemdetails.cfm?ID=1274 but when u need one badly and have a 1/8" is the box...
