06 redline monocog flight bin build

decided to build my first SS from a mix of left over and new parts. picked up the frame used & cheaply from the guys at topanga creek bicycles. they helped with the build as well. (i don't want to mess it up...)
i had the frame & fork powdercoated at olymipc powdercoating. ordered some nut tuggers from ISAR, (sweet, 10 days order to ship), got a thompson elite stem from ebay and a scuzzy logic headset... wheels & hubs are my old ones from my SC superlight, so is the saddle and crank.
hope to finish it this weekend, still need to put on the BB7s, FU2 bar, salsa QR seatpost clamp post, etc.

can't wait to take it out!

I have an '07 MC Flight with FU2 bars and ESI grips, though I guess the similarities end there. I look forward to a review. I've wondered how those AL Flights ride.

I'll chime in for information purposes. I just had one done by my local shop and it was $100 to have it stripped and coated.

    pretty much done

thanks to the guys at topanga creek bikes. haven't put it on a scale but it's a LOT lighter than my SC super light. it rides super responsive and snappy. climbing is hard but fast.
so much fun and totally different from my full squish geary... can't wait to take it out for a night ride tomorrow!

    I'm digging the bars.
Now going back, my straight ones feel a bit unnatural. Like I am twisting my hands inwards and pushing my elbows way out... especially when climbing.

Why do I suddenly want to build another mountain bike? How many hard tail mtn bikes does one man need?

I love the color. Isn't it amazing that ESI doesn't make their grips in yellow? I bought some white ones and attempted to dye them yellow. It didn't pan out. Anyway, nice build. I hope it is as fun as it looks.
