I was told a few years ago that they would never allow a rails to trails line on the property of where I work. I backed a trailer into the parking area at work last night, and I parked in the first slot(they are five deep)and, to my surprise, the old rail line behind where I work in Cheshire is cleared out. It is all stumped, graded out, and has silt fence going down on both sides of it. I walked it since I had to walk back to dispatch anyway(I had to park my tractor on the other side of the company property). When I got out of work, I drove around as much as I could, it looks like the trail is cleared out near the railroad bridge that goes over West Johnson Ave, which means it is clear from the parking area on Canal St, down as far as Sandbank Rd. I could not see(it was night time)if it has been worked on past Sandbank Rd. I drove down to Cornwall Ave(south part of Cheshire), but I saw no activity at that parking area. It looks to me that they are going to finish the four mile proposed route between Southington and Cheshire.
