Looking for stuff that's more about abrasion protection and being able to stay cool while riding. I have triple 8's that work great on my knees, but the elbow pads slip down on fast repeated brake bumps and other teeth chattering stuff. Anything recommended that'll stay up while being lightweight and good for abrasion protection?
Sounds like a job for iXS' Flow-Series Elbow Pads, my personal favourite. They're oriented more towards the lightweight/breathable/non-slipping boxes than the abrasion resistance, however. I think they rate fine up to enduro but they're not downhill pads and don't aim to be. If that is the type of riding you're doing then there are better options that slant more in favour of protection. POC's VPD line is also really good and the downhill specific elbow pads they offer should fit the bill if that kind of rough stuff is in your future. Expensive though.
For lightweight protection that does its job without ever being a sliding, overheating, obnoxious nuisance, I don't think anything beats a good mix of POC and iXS products. That's been my experience anyways.
Good luck!
