I live in NYC and am planning to make a trip into the Ridgefield, CT area to pick up something. Since it's roughly a 1.5 hour drive, I was thinking about taking a break to check out some trails in the area before making another 1.5 hour drive home. I would rank my skills to be around a beginner/intermediate.
Depending on your route either Huntington State Park or Wind Wing stuff. Also, Mianus River Park is very friendly to the Beginner and Intermediate crowd.
damn, thanks guys for the link and suggestions! So many options, not enough time/strength to check them all out. Looking at Wilton Woods and Huntington State Park.
Bennets Pond is the best riding. Call Bethel Cycle for info or bike shop in Ridgefield. Riding is very good. Huntington is better marked but doesn't come close in quality or difficulty.
