I coming/going to austin on a saturday and staying in a hotel on 11th street, i would love to get a city ride in on the streets but not sure on Austins laws/ordinances. Will i have any issues riding downtown?
Should have no issues, just don't be a d-bag around pedestrians. If you have a dirt jumper there are jumps on 9th street, you can swing down to the town lake hike and bike trail. Also the shoal creek greenbelt should be accessible.
If you want a longer ride you can go down to town like, swing over to zilker and head out the Barton creek greenbelt.
What kind of bike will you have with? If I am in town I could pick you up and take you to a trail. My site should have the info you need.
Thanks for the info and the offer, your site is awesome btw. I am actually going up there for a birthday night out but since i dont drink all that much i was planning on getting an early start and enjoying the city.
As for my bike i am not sure on which to take with me since i have to leave it in the hotel and the tends to make me worry. I may take my hard tail and run slicks for a nice scenic ride in town but still not 100% on that.
I guess i would like to get around 15-20 miles in downtown (maybe shorter, i remember big hills) and take in the beauty of the city.
Thanks again for the info '
If you keep knobbies on you are a mere 3 miles to the start of the Barton creek greenbelt. You could do the 6 mile round trip and 14 miles of great singletrack. Just bring lots of water.
