This is going to be a long build project, but I want to make sure I find that one frame to accomplish everything I want out of a 29er.
1) hardtail
2) SS compatible
3) ISCG tabs
4) slack geo in the front
5) plenty of tire clearance (2.35+)
Basically, I need a hardtail All-mountain 29er that I can run either geared, SS, w/ bash-guard, or with chain guide. We have pretty diverse network of trails in DFW and many other options within a couple hours drive.
Nimble 9 looks great, but doesn't have the ISCG.
The ROS 9 looks as though it meets the criteria as does the Kona Honzo. I probably won't have the funds for the frame until Fall, so I have time to research. Thanks for the feedback.
I had a similar list and ended up with the Honzo. Ros 9 looks nice, but no ISCG. I liked the looks of the Trans AM and the Cromag but the Honzo had everything I wanted and it was cheaper. I have been very happy with the bike. It is hard to quantify what is different about it compared to my on-one inbred. The biggest difference I notice is more confidence. Coming up on a techy climb or drop I always roll into it feeling better on the Honzo than I used to. I like that.
It allows the installation of chain guides, bash guards, etc.
You will want to find a frame with the updated ISCG-05 which will open the door to more component options.
